Why should I choose Ausena Accountants?
We take the time to understand your situation before giving advice, and we explain your options in plain language. Our Managing Director, Neville Harling, is a CPA and registered tax agent, and Ausena has worked with individuals and businesses since 2014.
Your first consultation is free, with no obligation.
Why use a registered tax agent?
Registered tax agents are registered with the Tax Practitioners Board. To be registered, they must meet qualification and experience requirements, hold professional indemnity insurance and follow the Code of Professional Conduct. Only registered tax agents can charge a fee to prepare and lodge a tax return.
Working with a registered tax agent can help you claim the deductions you’re entitled to and save you time, and the cost of managing your tax affairs is generally tax deductible.
How hard is it to change accountants?
In most cases it’s straightforward, and we’ll help with the handover. A fresh review of your affairs can also identify matters that may not have been addressed before.
I need to set up a company or trust. Can you help?
Yes. We’ll talk through the structures available, help you choose one that suits your circumstances, and look after the setup for you.
How much will my tax return cost?
Our fees depend on the complexity of your circumstances and the services you need. Basic salary and wage tax returns start from $143.00 including GST.
For businesses, we’ll discuss your needs first and then give you a quote. Tax agent fees are generally tax deductible.
What records do I need for my tax return?
Contact us and we’ll send you our individual or business tax return checklist, so you have everything ready before we begin.
Can you deduct your fees from my refund?
No, we don’t offer fee-from-refund arrangements. You can pay by credit card (Visa or Mastercard), bank deposit, cash or cheque.
Can I just send my paperwork?
Yes, that’s how we prefer to work. Email your paperwork through and one of our team will contact you once we receive it and keep you updated on our progress. In-person appointments are available on request.
When is my tax return due?
If you prepare your own tax return, it’s generally due on 31 October.
If you use a registered tax agent, you may be eligible for a later due date, up to 15 May, depending on your income and lodgment history. If you haven’t used a tax agent before, contact us before 31 October. Lodgment dates are set by the ATO and can change, so we’ll confirm your due date with you.
I have several years of returns outstanding. Can you help?
Yes. We can prepare and lodge your outstanding returns together and help bring your tax affairs up to date.
There’s an error in last year’s tax return. What should I do?
Let us know as soon as possible. We’ll review the return and, if needed, lodge an amendment with the ATO for you.
How long will my refund take?
Once your return is lodged, a refund generally takes around two weeks for returns lodged online, depending on ATO processing times.
This information is general in nature. Please contact us for advice about your own circumstances.
